Differ Terms of Service
Last updated: Nov 5, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Sky Valley Ambient Computing (“Sky Valley”, “we”, “us”), of 42–46 Princelet Street, London, England, E1 5LP, company number 17041955. They cover your use of Differ, including:
- Player at app.getdiffer.com, and the Differ phone app;
- Diff at diff.getdiffer.com;
- posts served from differ.page, and posts embedded on other sites;
- our publishing service at publish.getdiffer.com, including the agent connection (MCP) tools and Differ plugin.
Together these are the “Service”. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
1. What Differ is
Differ lets people publish small interactive web pieces (“posts”), play other people’s posts, and make new versions of a published post (“diffs”). A diff is a new post of your own that records which post and version it came from.
Some posts are live: people who are signed in can take part in them (for example, by adding entries or playing together), and those contributions are stored with the post.
2. Who can use Differ
You must be at least 13 years old to use Differ, and old enough in your country to agree to these terms. If you are under 18, you should have your parent or guardian’s permission.
You can browse and play posts without an account. To publish under your name, make diffs, comment, follow, save or take part in live posts, you sign in with Google and choose a handle.
3. Your account
- Keep the Google account, Apple account or email inbox you sign in with secure. You’re responsible for what happens under your Differ account.
- Your handle is public. Don’t choose one that impersonates someone, infringes someone’s rights, or is offensive. We may change or reclaim a handle that breaks these terms.
- Once used, a handle is never given to anyone else, even after the account is deleted.
- If you connect an AI agent or tool to Differ, it can publish on your behalf within the permissions you approve. You’re responsible for what it publishes. You can revoke a connection at any time.
4. Your content
“Your content” means the posts, drafts, files, comments, contributions to live posts and anything else you upload or create on Differ.
You keep ownership of your content. To run Differ, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, serve, display, run, analyse and adapt your content, and to make technical copies such as thumbnails, icons and screenshots. We use this licence only to operate, show, promote and improve Differ. It lasts while your content is on Differ, plus a reasonable time to remove it from backups and caches.
Diffs. Differ is built for remixing. When you publish a post, you also grant every other Differ user a licence to make diffs of it on Differ, and to publish, share and keep those diffs, with the link back to your post. Diffs other people have already made stay up if you later delete your post or your account. Please don’t publish anything you’re not happy for others to build on.
Drafts are private. Nobody else sees, plays, analyses or diffs a draft until you publish it.
Guest posts. You can publish without signing in. A guest post is reachable by anyone with its link, can’t collect live participation, and expires unless you claim it to your account.
You promise that you have the rights you need to publish your content and to grant the licences above, and that your content follows section 6.
5. AI features
When a signed-in creator publishes or claims a post, Differ uses AI models to analyse the published version. This produces a report, a cover (a short description, how to use it, its category and languages), a screenshot, icons and suggested changes. These help people discover the post and make diffs of it. Diff also lets you change a post by writing prompts to an AI agent.
AI output can be wrong, odd or similar to other people’s output. Check what you publish: you’re responsible for diffs and posts you publish, including AI-generated parts. Don’t use AI features to create content that breaks section 6.
6. What’s not allowed
Don’t use Differ to publish, share or do anything that:
- is illegal, or encourages illegal activity;
- sexually exploits or endangers children, or is sexually explicit;
- harasses, bullies, threatens or incites hatred or violence against anyone;
- infringes anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- is malware, phishing, crypto-mining, or tries to collect passwords, payment details or other personal data without clear consent;
- tries to break out of a post’s own space, attack Differ or its users, get around our limits, or access accounts or data that aren’t yours;
- links people somewhere harmful, or misleads people about who made something;
- is spam, or uses automated means to scrape Differ, create accounts or inflate views, follows or diffs (apart from agents you connect under section 3).
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive people on Differ. We remove content and close accounts that break these rules.
Live posts collect what people enter into them. If your post asks people for information, be clear about what it’s for and don’t ask for sensitive information.
7. Reports and removal
You can report a post or a comment you think breaks these terms from Player or the phone app, and block a creator so you no longer see their posts or comments and they can’t follow you or reply to you. We review reports within 24 hours and remove what breaks these terms. We may review, remove or restrict any content, and suspend or close any account, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, or puts people or Differ at risk. Where it’s appropriate and lawful, we’ll tell you what we did and why, and you can reply to ask us to reconsider.
To report content, including a copyright complaint, email legal@skyvalley.ac with the link and why you’re reporting it.
8. Deleting your content or account
You can delete your posts and comments at any time. You can delete your account at any time from Player or the phone app (see how); this happens straight away and can’t be undone. Our Privacy Policy explains what’s removed and what stays. Diffs other people made of your posts stay up.
9. Our service
Differ is free and is still being built. We may change, add or remove features, and may stop the Service, at any time. Where a change significantly affects you, we’ll try to give reasonable notice.
The Differ name, logos, Player, Diff and the Service itself (but not your content) belong to us. These terms don’t give you any rights to them apart from using the Service.
Posts are made by their creators, not by us. We don’t check every post and aren’t responsible for what users publish or what a post does in your browser. Use and take part in posts at your own judgement.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content will be kept forever. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t legally be limited or excluded. If you’re a consumer, you also keep any statutory rights you have.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss of profits, revenue, data or business opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss. Because Differ is provided free, our total liability to you for anything relating to the Service is limited to £100.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the Service or by email. If you keep using Differ after a change, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can stop using Differ and delete your account.
12. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you can also bring proceedings in your home courts and keep the protection of your local mandatory laws.
- If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can’t transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them as part of a reorganisation, merger or sale of Differ.
- The Differ phone app is also subject to the terms of the app store you got it from. Apple and Google aren’t responsible for the app or these terms.
